Kushanhe Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at the Kushan River southeast of Akto County, Xinjiang. It was named by the No. 2 Geological Party of Xinjiang Bureau of Geology in 1981, and formally cited in The Paleozoic Erathem of Xinjiang in 1991.
Lithology and Thickness
Limestone and Siltstone. Dominated by neritic carbonate rock intercalated with clastic rock, consisting of gray-black bioclastic limestone, light-gray silty-clayey limestone, green-gray calcareous siltstone and sandy mudstone. 1498 m thick. From SE to NW along strike, there is a decrease in both in carbonate rocks and fossils.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformable contact with the underlying Qizilafu Fm
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the overlying Hantierek Fm; coeval with the Kelitak Fm in this same region
Regional extent
Distributed NW along the Kushan River-Yizhi Village southwest of Akto County on the southwest margin of the Tarim Basin, and aged Early Carboniferous

Fossils
Contains abundant Corals Neobeichuanophyllum sp., Caninia sp., Diphyphyllum sp., Beichuanophyllum sp., Michelinia sp., Kueichowpora sp. and Cystomichelinia sp.; Brachiopods Rugauris inica, Composita megala, Semiproductus sp., Avonia inflata, Cyrtospirifer sp., Schuchertella sp.; Foraminifers Labechia sp. and Platiferostroma sp.; Bivalve Sanguinolites, hornstone fossils, etc.
